AFTERNOON CARE PROGRAM

Afternoon Care has been established to give families the flexibility of extended hours for their children’s care and education. The extended hours can occur either regularly or casually, enabling you to leave your children at Albury Pre-school after normal pre-school time until 5.00 pm.

Rationale

Children come to Afternoon Care from a very busy and social l day of pre-school education.

Our aims for afternoon care

We aim to set a quieter and gentler pace for those children who are staying on for Afternoon Care. We aim to provide your child with a peaceful place to be.

In creating this atmosphere we will be encouraging your child:

• to choose to play with friends or to play alone,
• to choose what s/he would like to do and for how long,
• to eat when s/he is ready, and
• to have the time to build meaningful relationships with friends and the adults who are caring for them

Daily Procedures

• Please provide your child with a small afternoon tea and drink.
• Room staff will sign the children out of preschool each afternoon then Cathy will sign the children into Afternoon Care.
• When you collect your child from Afternoon Care you will need to sign out from the Afternoon Care Attendance Sheet. Any communication - notes, comments or messages from rooms will be highlighted on this sheet.
• Please remember that only those names that you have authorised can collect children from Afternoon Care.
• Please ensure that your child collects all belongings as you leave.
